One translation of ประเทศไทย or Thailand is ‚Land of the Free‘. This name was chosen partly because Thailand had never been colonized by Western powers and freedom is a prominant theme in the national identity of Thais. Up to the beginning oft he 20th century slavery was legal in Thailand and up to 70% of the population were enslaved. In modern Thailand many belief that the age of slavery has ended but human trafficking is a persistent issue throughout Thailand. Our vision in Southern Thailand is to bring freedom to victims of human trafficking and to end the cycle of poverty abuse and to see the transformation of lifes through God’s mercy and change in the whole community.
We belief that God sees injustice and abuse and longs to redeem people and give them the freedom to live with dignity and healthy relationships. He sees every person individually and he knows the cries of our hearts. Just as he brougth and continues to bring hope and change to our lives we want to pass on this hope and be an agent for change in our community in Southern Thailand.
